Project : Another 1000 Days of Drawing

FIRST AND FOREMOST : http://kck.st/1KoIVDm

That there is the link people for you'll to support this guy with his project.

Wish him all the best .. the project looks pretty cool and trendy. Wish him all the best with the collection and let's hope he succeeds.

now this line is straight for the creator of this project, I hope you share atleast the first 1000 days of drawing if NOT this one.

Little bit about the project :

My name is Chris Piascik. I’m an independent illustrator living in Massachusetts, USA, and four years ago, I asked for your help publishing a book of my daily drawings. Four years later, I've got another 1000 dailies, and I'd like to ask your help making another book.
"I've been drawing something, anything, every Monday through Friday. December 21st marks my 1000th daily drawing. 1000th is a weird word, so that will be the last time I use it here.
Since around Daily Drawing 217 I started thinking about putting together a book featuring all of my Dailies. At the time, I told myself I needed so many more drawings. At around Daily Drawing 493 I decided 1000 would be the right number. As I approached Daily Drawing 900 I started sweating profusely and wondering what I'd gotten myself into. ALAS, THE DAY IS UPON US! (I say 'us' to make you all feel involved, but really the day is upon me.)"
When I started the daily drawings 8 years ago, I didn't have any type of project in mind. I just wanted to practice drawing, and the discipline of doing work everyday. It quite literally changed my career. It allowed me to leave one career (graphic design) and start another one (illustrator to the stars (strike out to the stars)). It also allowed me to stop working for a boss and set out on my own. Though now I have 3 tiny bosses, Biggie, Bluie, and Duke.
Over the last 1000 days, I've drawn a pear, along with an angry donut, and don't forget pizza (I don't just draw food). Like the first 1000 drawings, the second 1000 covers a wide range of topics, while also functioning as an illustrated memoir of my life. For that reason, I've chosen to come back to Kickstarter to get the help I need to self-publish this book.
This is what I said last time about the project and it rings even more true today:
"I'm not ashamed to say I want your help self-publishing this book because I want full control over the final product. The Daily Drawing project has changed my life in several significant ways and I need to honor that by putting out the product I want to put out. (Don't worry editors, I'm totally willing to let you have the reins on future projects.)"
I'm hoping to raise $7,000, which is the minimum I need to cover the cost of binding and printing the 265 page, full-color book (in a minimum order of 250 copies). Over the next few months, I will be spending an incredible amount of time sorting my daily drawings into categories, laying out the book file, and preparing it for print. I hope to finish this project by February of 2016.
Here's some pictures of the first book:

Here's a sampling of some of my favorites from the most recent 1000 dailies:

And some of the rewards! Sticker Pack!

 Poster!

The very special, Kickstarter only shirt!

Risks and challenges

I don't expect any big obstacles as I've gone through this for my first book and learned a lot along the way. Production does have the possibility to be delayed a bit, but I can't imagine a scenario that would cause any major delays. I will do everything in my power to ship everything on time.

E-commerce - Let's go Online

Plunging into the business module of it, covering all intricacies, pros and cons would lead anyone; who wishes to devote their time, into releasing a 498 pages book on the idea of doing business online.

Everyone says things like  - E- commerce is the real big "In Thing" today. That it is not so uncommon to overhear ladies crossing the road, chatting - " I've been wanting that Swarovski Gold Ring we saw at the Lakme Fashion Week this year, ever since I set my eyes on it. There is no Swarovski store only in THIS village... "  The alter ego replies, " Chillax Yaa!! Just go get it online today."

Does E-commerce hold the potential for shops to turn into warehouses?

What is not so common is that, just like, every other business the " dependency" factor is awakening the serpent to find the right time to strike back, someday very soon. Where the entire economy would function on the fingertips of select few players who offer these platforms - these chosen few pose  a threat of getting blinded by power and greed to dictate their terms, at the cost of what can cause an upheaval.

Nothing is more permanent than having a foundation which is firmly grounded and independent. However, drifters would disagree with me here. Their belief systems operate on pure faith and the present moment, wherein living life matters to them more than making a space for themselves in one spot.

Where is the wheel of time taking us now? Is it really working towards a better tomorrow?

Book Launch of Kirtida Gautam at Title Waves Bookstore

I like reviewing things which is zara sa hatke (out of the box) and so this time I'm going to take the privilege of reviewing an event. This #event was one of those rare occasions where everybody present felt bold enough to be there, to come together and applaud the courage and work, detailing the lives of those exposed to the rape culture.

 IMAGE 2

Kirtida Gautam, launched her first book - #IAm16ICanRape in the prestigious presence of her Guru, her Godfather, her mentor - Anjum Rajabali. The book is said to have over 2years of research study involved with over a dozen perspectives disclosed, of people, which go for and against the whole affair that surrounds around a "RAPE".

If you have a look at the two images above, I find that the creative pull towards the cover design is stronger in Image 1 than Image 2. It is simply an observation, had I been given the choice I'd definitely opt for Image 1 as the cover picture for my book.

Usually, it is observed that a book launch mostly has people the author knows closely. There were very select few including myself who had made the effort of being there exclusively just to get fulfillment....on the 22nd August .  So a book launch, is, in itself , an event which must be structured well just like a film script, it must be scripted from end to end. For instance, I generally make it a point when I'm having a book launch, that I spend more time with the people who I don't know from the ones I know, so that they don't , for a moment, feel out of place when they enter a space where they didn't know anyone. Sometimes, it proves more profitable in doing so than otherwise.
I ensure that every word I speak is rehearsed well and memorized by me, I ensure I am professionally projected in front of an audience.. no matter how tempting the big blunder of becoming personal nudges me, every passing second whilst am addressing an audience.

The emotional high of becoming a "published author" is so great that there are many intricacies that are often overlooked which the audience sitting there do not miss. One must be AWARE about that.
Remember, it is "Your Moment" , people over there have come for YOU. Sharing the cake with another author sitting in the audience is a very noble thing to do just how Kirtida promoted Debashish Irengbam, shifting the limelight from herself .. hats off to her!!!

I learnt so many things from Anjum Sir that day about hosting a book launch. Firstly modesty and warmth goes a long way, the best way to do it is maintain a smile on one's face. The host is suppose to go all out in encouraging and pampering the author to such a extent that the audience shifts from becoming freinds/relatives to fans. Be genuine and stick to the facts, it maintains decorum. I'm truly grateful to him for imbibing in me such a lot plus he made me retrospect into my past mistakes which I can improve upon.

With this I'd like to conclude that the book is supposed to be a super hit blockbuster feature film in the future given that the author is an ex-screenwriter from FTII. So needless to mention make it your bedtime story..AAAARRGHH!!! No really  :)

All the very best wishes to Kirtida !!!!!

Ant-Man

After a good break I'm back with another wacky review. This one definitely doesn't come close to what the #IMDB or any other #review boards voice out in the mass media.

So, I'm toying with an idea that I'm surely not going to disclose over here. When I decide to act upon my instincts and head straight to the theater to see if there is a movie I'd love to watch. My eye just catches the name - Ant-Man when I come upon the name of the movie.

Oh ya!! Imagine this, I head all the way to the theater and I'm standing outside the Box Office. But that is when I decide to open the movie ticket booking app I've got on my phone. So that's what i mean when I say " I come upon the name of the movie"
... If you're wanting to know whether I get my answer, you're going to have to hold your breath VEEEERRRRRY LONG.

Talking about the movie -

The movie revolves around a new gen biologically enigmatic idea that strikes a chord with the movie buffs to keep this flick going for many weeks now. I think this is an introduction to a whole series of films based on the idea and that they didn't do it that well. There have been better introductions done by Marvel previously.
The original element seems to be sort of taken away from the script when one sees the writers include the involvement of the #Avengers even though it was in a really small way.

The sympathetic emotions expressed between father and daughter I feel will go a long way.

The lead actor has done an excellent job over there. Although, the character playing Dr. Pym truly gave him quite a tough competition. The background score of the sound engineers is quite subdued and not much effort has been put over there. The filmography is cool but what is amazing is the visual effects.

The action scenes and the fights are again given less importance. The movie leaves an open ending tactic for possible sequels to come.

OH!! That gets me to the one vital TIP  - you will thank me for this :

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SEATS AND VACATE THE HALL ONCE THE CREDITS START ROLLING. SIT THROUGH THE CREDITS.

With THAT I leave you all.. Overall the movie is a must watch superhero blockbuster you definitely won't regret watching, over other movies playing at the box office right now.

Jaipur Literature Festival

There's a lot that can be said about this particular festival. I've been for it once to experience the ambiance and 'feel' of being in a literature festival.

You will find out about my personal experience, that I had, of being there for it.

I chose to visit the festival with a group of Book lovers and bookworms which popularly refer to themselves as "Book Exchange Club of Mumbai" . I express my gratitude to them , because we had a mix of people with each having their forte in a different genre of writing work, they loved reading. That helped us all get a background about each of the speakers and events over and above what they festival pamphlets said about the authors- for us to make our choices and  to pick up the best from what the festival had in store.

The air was so full of intellectual conversations and buzz, that it awakened my senses and presence of being to another level altogether - I was drugged with the sepiosexualism- driven "Hotel California" thought; that I felt sure I could spend my entire lifetime, smoothly there - without ever needing to doubt, look back or hesitate upon the decision.

There were authors doing their book launch. There were authors speaking about trending topics which was discussed within the internal sphere of "claimed to fame" writers. There was a whole world out there with an unending flow of karma, vikarma and akarma.

Being an International festival, they had authors from all walks of life spread over a global terrain, to talk the walk and promote their work and themselves. What was most interesting was the way they managed to organize the show and split the different genres up. The JLF was the first time I'd visited a literature festival and it brought a drive within me to go for others which happened in Mumbai. But no festival I went for was, even in the slightest, close to what #JLF aka Jaipur Literature Festival  offered.

I was fortunate to be granted entry into a VIP -Jaipur Bookmark Festival more specifically only open for Published authors and publishers, wherein the general mob was not permitted. none of my friends were allowed in either. I could do so because I had published my book on poems and I had proof to show it to them. This way I could connect with the founders and actual owners of the JLF. That was a big leap .. in my journey to become a part of the writing fraternity, to be recognized as one of them as I was struggling very hard to become " One of them" ... It was a feeling I craved for the most, then.

It has been 2 years since then.....

I am today very happy to have made that journey and chosen a path I can dedicate my life to.

Maxx Macho Chilly Lays and Maxx Sizzling Barbeque

This time people I'm going to review a popular FMCG product.

Maxx Macho Chilli

Unlike, our usual stuff is generally reviewing what is very popular and known yet with a huge segment of the world out there who are not familiar with it. This review is a special one for one the most loved Mass Production Chips Brand by myself.

So, guess what we have two new flavors that have recently come out. Yay!!
The other one is : Sizzling Barbeque.

Maxx Sizzling Barbeque

Now, except the Taste , I honestly find the shape of these chips odd and not cool at all. For one, I'm so used to the shape that my body cannot digest how Lays can look anything different from what I've been used to. So, if the guys from Lays are reading this in business jargins - I hope you know that the calculated risks you have taken up are backed by statistical data and strategic distribution. Bringing anything new in the market is like standing on the hinge of a see -saw. And you people have done a double dip.

Obviously, your intention is to introduce a new parallel series called the " Maxx " series , But guys, these flavors aren't new in the market. Why will people go for it? The MAcho chilli tastes so similar to your Tomato flavor.

If you are so keen in introducing new options. Then, invent new flavors.
Do the Dew - Darr ke aage jeet  hai !!

Lastly, Why the F*** are you playing with the Pricing structure. What's so special in these packs that's not there in the rest for which you think the people are going to pay you Rs 5 extra.
If this pricing is Only for the trial period, then all the more reason why it'll fail coz the people expect the pricing to be welcoming i.e. lesser than standard , for them to opt for your newbies than what they are already fond of.

With this I end this review!!!!!
